I’m Janet Reynolds, a visual artist and educator. I taught art to students in Texas for fifteen years and currently serve as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Clear Lake.
I earned my BA in art from Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH, and my Master’s in Art Education from Boston University. I also teach workshops at Minnesota Center for Book Arts and various locations in the Houston area.
My interest in book arts began when I was gifted a handmade wedding album. I began studying book arts during a summer residency at Boston University, and since then, I’ve been fascinated by the medium. I’m particularly drawn to the architecture of churches, which I explore in my tunnel books.
Nature and the environment have also been central themes in many of my books. I enjoy discovering new ways to create accordion books, hand-stitched books, and experimenting with other sculptural bookmaking techniques.
